Mary Byrne - PhD, MA, BA

I worked for 25 years in higher education as a lecturer, researcher and project manager. My focus was the development, delivery and evaluation of third-level programmes (both online and in-person) in allied health, social sciences, and arts & humanities, as well as programmes for second-level teachers and students with intellectual disabilities.

I qualified in proofreading and copy-editing from the Publishing Training Centre in London. I specialise in academic and other non-fiction work including reports, journal articles, training and instruction manuals, grant applications and books, as well as websites and other digital resources.

Since 2008 I have worked on proofreading and copy-editing projects in diverse topics such as:

  • Education, training and curriculum development
  • Medicine, nursing and allied health
  • Psychology, social care, personal development
  • Community development, literacy, ethnic minorities, social deprivation

  • Biomedical engineering
